Reports To: Volunteer Program Coordinator, may receive direction from Englewood Public Library staff.

Summary: Organize and straighten bookshelves, sort materials on carts for shelving, assist with program preparations, sort and assess incoming donations for used books sales, assist staff with displays, and other special projects. 

Time Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week, with a maximum of 6 hours per week. Schedule will vary based on volunteer availability and Library needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to organize materials in alphabetical and numerical order. Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System is helpful, but not required. Ability to interact with patrons and work effectively and cooperatively with library staff is necessary.

Qualifications: Must be 18 years old and over. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform lifting and shelving of materials while standing, stooping, and/or bending. Must be able to push/pull a book cart back and forth within the Library.

Summary: Assist non-native English speakers to building English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing by tutoring participants one-on-one. Utilize a variety of materials and scenarios to practice conversation and daily living activities. 

Time Commitment: To be determined between volunteer and learner. Minimum of 1 meeting per month is recommended.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to interact with participants of diverse backgrounds and language skill. Possess a strong command of the English language, ability to plan lesson activities, provide instruction, and exhibit patience, compassion, and sensitivity to learners.

Qualifications: Must be 18 years old and over. Hold at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Ability to schedule regular meetings with learner and maintain communication.

Position Title: Open Tech Lab Tutor

Responsible To: Adult Volunteer Supervisor and, if applicable, Englewood Public Library staff.

Summary: Assist patrons in the Technology Lab and in public computer area on general use and provide basic instruction. This may include, but is not limited to printing, website navigation, troubleshoot computer issues, guidance on use of tablets and smartphones, connecting to the public Wi-fi, and other technology related duties and projects as needed.

Time Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week, with a maximum of 6 hours per week. Schedule will vary based on volunteer availability and Library needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of personal computers and other technology devices. Basic knowledge of web-based email, web browsers, and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to patiently provide instruction to novice computer users, communicate effectively and pleasantly with library patrons, and work cooperatively with Library staff.

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old or older. Strong knowledge of using a variety of technology and web-based tools. Previous experience providing formal technology instruction is helpful.
