Save Water

Water is central to our everyday lives—from eating/drinking and enjoying our yards to flushing the toilet and washing laundry. At the same time, it is a rare and precious resource in the high plains desert that Englewood calls home. This means that it’s especially important for us to save and preserve our water resources. As a city, Englewood has taken various measures to be a responsible water user, but we need your help. Consider the following.

Did you know that…?

  • Up to 80% of water used in the summer months is outdoors, and as much as half of that water may be wasted.
  • Irrigating in windy conditions or during the heat of the day can waste up to a quarter of the water used.
  • A leak of one drop per second wastes at least 2,400 of gallons of water per year—that’s 140 showers!
