Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) in the context of water utilities refers to a modern system that includes smart water meters and a communication network to collect and manage water consumption data more efficiently. Through the AMI modernization effort, the City of Englewood is replacing its old and obsolete metering system with an AMI system.
Water Meter Changeouts
The City of Englewood has contracted with Core & Main Inc. and D&B Construction to perform water meter changeouts throughout Englewood over the next 12 months. These replacements are essential for maintaining the reliability of your water metering system and ensuring accurate billing. They are intended to be city-wide and will involve a conversion from the City’s antiquated and obsolete mechanical metering system to it’s digital, modern counterpart: Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). While most meters are outdoors, some are indoors and will require D&B Construction technicians to enter your home or business for no more than an hour to complete the conversion.
If your home or business has an indoor meter and needs a water meter changeout, you will receive a letter in the mail informing you. After you receive the letter, you will be asked to schedule a meter conversion at a time that works best for you. During the scheduled conversion a meter installer technician will need to enter your home or business to replace the meter. The technicians will coordinate with residents to ensure minimal inconvenience during the conversion process.
