Annual Grease and Oil Takeback

  • Date: 12/07/2024 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Grease and Oil Take Back Dec. 7South Platte Renew (SPR) invites the communities of Englewood, Littleton, and 19 connecting districts to bring their used cooking grease and automotive oil to the facility located at 2900 S. Platte River Drive in Englewood for safe, easy, and free disposal on Saturday, December 7, 2024 between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The annual event is strategically timed after Thanksgiving to encourage community members to bring their leftover grease from holiday meals for proper disposal. Holiday meals can leave gallons of unwanted used cooking oil that shouldn’t be poured down drains or pipes. Used cooking oil can congeal, resulting in clogs and blockages in homes and in the collection system. In addition to cooking grease, SPR is accepting used automotive oil. Automotive oil in drains can cause dangerous conditions in pipes and the collection system.

The event is free and open to all residents in the South Platte Renew service area. Residents can drop off up to 10 gallons of cooking grease and automotive oil per household.

Disposal Prep:

  • Cooking oil and automotive oil must be separated into different containers and be free from contaminants such as fuels, solvents, or water.
  • Cooking oil should be liquid and free of food debris.
  • Oil filters, antifreeze or oil from commercial businesses will not be accepted.
