Tai Chi

Tai Chi, a Chinese martial art, will provide low impact fitness for a wide range of abilities. As a form of exercise, it combines gentle physical exercise and stretching with mindfulness. The majority of Tai Chi elements include standing poses and postures. Engaging in Tai Chi has demonstrated results in reducing falls in aging adults.

Participating in Tai Chi on a regular basis will:

  • Improve Flexibility
  • Increase Energy
  • Promote Inner Quietness
  • Enhance Balance
  • Improve Posture

Tai Chi classes offered include: Tai Chi Yoga Fusion blending the best of both ancient arts; Tai Chi for Better Balance to help prevent falls; and Therapeutic to support management of chronic health conditions.

Beginning/Advanced Tai Chi for Better Balance

Ages: 55 yrs +

Improve your balance while enhancing your agility and coordination with tai chi- based movements. The class format and design have been acknowledged as one of the few evidence-based interventions for the prevention of falls by the Centers for Disease Control and National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. Beginning and advanced classes are offered. Advanced class participation must be approved by the instructor. Location: MRC Instructor: Patty Vogt
