Full-Day Weaving Class

Explore the world of weaving on a rigid heddle Loom. Learn how to make a scarf that is approx. 7 x 60. Gain insight into weaving terminology, figure warp and weft and design possibilities! Consider supporting the local weaving store (Blazing Star) on Broadway for supplies. They will help to choose the proper yarn for class (250-350 yards of yarn are needed). Supply list will be emailed to registered students prior to class.

TLC Embroidery

Gather with other needle crafters to create various embroidery crafts. Patrons must provide all own materials. TLC Embroidery is an open format setting without an instructor. Patrons must have prior knowledge on needle crafts. This open studio is available for all needle crafts including embroidery, bunka, needlepoint, cross stitch, quilting, crochet and knitting.

Creative Pottery

Explore various methods of hand building, slip casting & sculpting to create three pieces of art in each six-week session. All glazes, underglazes & kiln firings included. Clay fee is $15 for every 25 pounds of clay which is payable to instructor.

Open Pottery Studio

This class is for current students of Malley Recreation Center pottery classes to come together and work independently on individual projects outside of dedicated class time. This workshop time is student led and open studio does not have an instructor. Students bring personal supplies for open studio, and wipe down tables and work spaces prior to class departure. Kiln access not available for open studio.

Acrylic Pour Art

Join the fun in this new workshop exploring the popular medium of poured acrylic paints. This will be an easygoing, hands-on weekly workshop where our only goal will be to create abstract works using only fluid acrylic paints and the forces of nature. This class will work on prepared scraps of wood, using available devices such as the lazy susan to give our pieces energy and novelty. Smocks and gloves will be provided, as this will be a hands-on experience!

Color Theory

This class will offer a crash course in color theory, a comprehensive understanding of color from the work of contemporary imaginative realist painter James Gurney. We will explore the core aspects of hue, value, color temperature and relativity through hands-on projects completed in class. Students will also study examples of works by artists throughout art history.

Drawing and Painting Class

Explore the world of art by drawing, painting and sketching! This class welcomes a variety of medium options including colored pencil, watercolor or acrylic paint – you choose! Escape to a creative place where skills can sharpen and creativity grow. All levels are welcome.

Drop-In Woodcarving

Continue to work on a woodcarving project and join other experienced carvers while you work. This group is a drop-in style class that encourages socialization while working independently in a self-led workshop setting.
