What is Elevate Englewood?
A program to empower residents and stakeholders to make a difference in Englewood by understanding, navigating and influencing local power structure. The eight-week course overviews the four sectors of civic life—public, private, non-profit and education—while exploring new avenues and tools for involvement that disrupt the status quo and address the community’s most pressing challenges.
Desired Outcomes for Participants:
Learn to influence decision makers to address community challenges; for example:
- Utilize social media to organize and advocate for change
- Develop a coalition of residents to influence policy
- Raise funds to address a community need
- Volunteer for a local organization
- Start a non-profit
- Join the PTA
- Present information to community leaders
Learn to lead within local organizations
- Join the board or staff of a non-profit
- Apply to serve on a City or County board or commission
