To promote and ensure a high quality of life, economic vitality, and a uniquely desirable community identity through delivery of quality projects, programs and services.
Who We Are
The Department of Public Works constructs, repairs, and maintains the infrastructure of the City, including streets, alleys, surface drainage, traffic systems, traffic markings and signs, central garage facilities and vehicles, and building facilities. Public Works also provides engineering expertise for public improvement projects and engineering assistance to other departments.
About
The City of Englewood’s Public Works Department is a team of approximately 60 professionals organized into eight divisions:
- Administration - Overall management and strategic visioning of the department.
- Facilities - Management and oversight of city facilities, including capital projects and design, architecture, and building services (custodial services).
- Stormwater - Management of the city’s stormwater utility and related programming.
- Traffic - Management of traffic signals and signage.
- Engineering and Capital Projects - Coordination of capital projects such as streets, sidewalks, alleys, and bridges.
- Streets - Implementation of routine maintenance, repairs, and improvements of the city’s 119 miles of streets and 52 miles of alleys, as well as bridges, surface drainage, sanding, plowing, collecting, and disposing of snow.
- Fleet - Repairs, maintains, and oversees maintenance records of all vehicles in the city’s fleet.
- Construction Inspection - Oversight of all capital projects in city rights-of-way.
