Development Review Team

A Free Preliminary Plan Review Service

Prior to applying for a building permit or starting any major development, applicants are encouraged to contact the city to verify the zoning of the property and to identify potential code issues or development constraints that may apply to a project. The city offers a free and voluntary pre-application review by the Development Review Team (DRT) to assist applicants through the development review process as smoothly as possible.

The Development Review Team includes staff from various city departments and divisions, including:  Building Division, Community Development, Economic Development, Engineering, Fire Department, Parks, Public Works, Utilities, Traffic and Wastewater.

The DRT meets with applicants and informs them about the review process, important codes and policies that apply, identifies potential problems, and suggests possible solutions. Review by DRT is intended to save time and money and make the review process easier by identifying potential problems or opportunities upfront.

DRT applications received by noon on Monday are usually reviewed the following week at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday; eight days after application submittal. Applicants are encouraged to attend with their architect, engineer or contractor. Meetings are held at the Englewood Civic Center, 1000 Englewood Parkway, third floor in the Community Development Conference Room.
