The City of Englewood requires all STR operators living within a residential zone district to be the primary resident of the property and live at the property no less than 185 days per year. All STR operators, regardless of the zone district, must have both a city sales and use tax license and a STR license. Below are helpful steps on how to apply.

1. Read STR Ordinance
2. Determine Zone District Where You Live
3. Gather All Required Documents Listed Below for New and Renewal Applications
- Current deed on file with Arapahoe County showing ownership
- First page of current federal tax return with financial and social security numbers redacted
- At least two (2) of the following, indicating the STR property is the individual’s primary residence: a valid motor vehicle registration, Colorado driver's license or Colorado identification card, or voter registration.
- Proof of Residency and Ownership Affidavit notarized by a Colorado Notary, identifying every Owner (if not evident from the face of the deed), establishing the property is the primary residence, and attaching proof of authorization to execute the Affidavit on behalf of a trust or entity owner, if applicable.
- Insurance and HOA Affidavits/Waiver and Release
- Declarations page of insurance with a minimum of $1M in personal liability coverage.
- A legible floor plan of the dwelling showing all levels. Sample plan. Each level of the floor plan shall indicate:
- The location of the fire extinguishers.
- Carbon monoxide (CO2) detection located outside each sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedroom(s) and living/recreation rooms. Battery operated combo smoke/CO2 detectors are acceptable.
- Smoke detectors located in each bedroom, hallways giving access to the sleeping areas, and living/recreation rooms. Battery operated combo smoke/CO2 detectors are acceptable.
- All points of exiting, including compliant egress windows in basement sleeping areas.
- Note: Non-habitable areas such as kitchens, closets, hallways and similar shall not be used as sleep areas.
7. Parking plan showing all parking areas, including a minimum of one (1) permanent parking space per bedroom for rent, no more than two (2) of which may be on-street, public parking. Sample plan.

4. Pay Fees
Apply at the right. Upload all required documents and pay non-refundable application fee.
New Application
- $500 - Due at time of application submittal
- $55 - Due after application is deemed complete and prior to property inspection
- $200 - Due after inspection is approved and prior to issuance of license
Renewal Application
- $300 - Due at time of application submittal
- $55 - Due after application is deemed complete but prior to inspection
- $200 Due after inspection is approved but prior to issuance of license
