Division Chief, Chad Read

Division Chief Read oversees the Special Operations and Codes Division, to include Investigations Bureau, Code Enforcement, Fire Marshal's Office and the Impact Team.

Division Chief Read joined the Englewood Police Department in 2006 after relocating from Illinois, where he served six years with two sheriff’s offices. Chad has served in a variety of functions and assignments in his career to include Patrol, Impact Team, Professional Standards, Special Operations, among other collateral duties.

Division Chief Read is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session # 284 and the Northwestern University, School of Police Staff & Command, Session # 443. Chad is committed to providing quality law enforcement services through problem solving by enhancing community partnerships.

Code Enforcement

Four code officers, park ranger and one manager assist residents with maintaining the appearance of their properties. They also handle animal welfare calls.

Fire Marshal's Office

Three Fire Inspectors and one Fire Marshal maintain life safety of all commercial buildings and public education for schools and hospitals.

Impact Team

Four officers and one sergeant focus on issues that directly impact the quality-of-life in the city.

Investigations Bureau

Ten detectives and two detective sergeants provide investigative follow-up on criminal cases.

Property & Evidence

Responsible for processing and storing all property and evidence that is booked into the police department.
