2023 Citizen of the Year

Kelly Utter-McCloskey

Recipients of the award exemplify outstanding volunteer or philanthropic dedication to the Englewood community, and that is evident in the many ways Utter-McCloskeyhas donated her time to helping others.

Tami Slipher nominated Kelly and said, ‘Kelly is no-nonsense but has a true heart of gold. She is not a fancy professional or an influential businessperson. She is a retired wife, mother, grandmother and longtime citizen of Englewood who is dedicated to making an impact in the community she lives in. She models our City's Vision Statement in providing collaborative problem-solving strategies and by treating everyone with fairness, dignity and respect. Even those who may be considered less desirable.’

Some of Utter-McCloskey’s accomplishments include:

  • Volunteers as a Personal Navigator at Movement 5280
  • Certified Peer Recovery Coach
  • Assists HAAT Force with severe weather voucher distribution
  • Volunteer at Rooted 303, Sober Souls, SAFER and Englewood’s Table Food Pantry
