Business Licenses & Registration

  • I have a new business located in Englewood; do I need to register with your City?
    • Answer: All business engaged in business with the City of Englewood will be required to obtain a Sales and Use Tax License. The registration process can be started at:  MUNIRevs-Englewood
  • How do I find out if my Business needs a separate Business License in addition to a Sales Tax License?

  • We are a not-for-profit business that engages retail sales in your City, do we need a license?  Do we need a license if we locate in your City?
    • Answer: A license is required because the not-for-profit business is liable for the collection and submission of the tax paid by the customer purchasing the product provided by the not-for-profit business.  If the not-for-profit business locates in the City, a Sales and Use Tax license is required. MUNIRevs-Englewood

ZIP CODES: Englewood City Limits v. Postal address

  • Postal zip code indicates Englewood, is my business located in the City of Englewood?
    • Answer: There is some misunderstanding about which Zip Codes are actually within Englewood's jurisdiction, as the U.S. Postal Service has designated some areas in Sheridan, Greenwood Village, Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, unincorporated Arapahoe County, and unincorporated Douglas County with Englewood mailing addresses.  Postal zip codes 80110 (west of Broadway) and 80113 (from Broadway east) are within the city limits or jurisdiction of the City of Englewood. The 80110 zip code is shared with the City of Sheridan and the 80113 zip code is shared with the City of Cherry Hills Village.

Property Taxes

  • May I speak with someone about my property taxes?
    • Answer: For general property tax questions, please call the Arapahoe County Assessor’s office at 303-795-4600. The City of Englewood is authorized to assess the following property tax mill levies (For illustrative purposes 2019 collected in 2020):
      • General Fund Operations - 5.880 mills
      • General Obligation Debt – Recreation Center – 1.401 mills
      • General Obligation Debt – Police Headquarters Building – 2.157 mills

General Sales Tax and Licensing Questions

  • I want to solicit my product and/or service Door to Door in your city; what do I need?
    • Answer: In addition to a Sales Tax License, you will need a Direct Seller’s permit and a city issued I.D. Card. Registration can be started at: MUNIRevs-Englewood
  • I am not selling anything, yet I want to post advertisement in the neighborhoods; what do I need?
    • Answer: If you have no contact with the public and are providing informational flyers/leaflet/handbills only, you will not need a Business license.  Your advertising/marketing information must be affixed, i.e., taped or rubber banded, no placement on sites that have NO SOLICITING posted, not in mail boxes, parking lots, or automobile windshields.  Please review the following Englewood Municipal Code link:  EMC Title 5 Chapter 19 Direct Sellers

  • I am participating in a City sponsored event; what do I need?  
    • Answer: You will need a Special Event License. (Craft Fairs, 4th of July, Holiday Bazaar, Sounds of Summer, Block Party, etc.) Registration can be started at: MUNIRevs-Englewood  

Non-City Sponsored Events

  • I want to participate in a special event?
    • Answer: You will need a Sales and Use Tax License. Registration can be started at: MUNIRevs-Englewood

Food related questions

  • I want to sell food on a street corner; what do I need?
    • Answer: Please contact Community Development at 303-762-2342 for information on zoning restrictions. A Food Vendors license is required, as well as a Sales Tax License. You can start the application process at:  MUNIRevs-Englewood
  • I want to sale food from my food truck; what do I need?
    • Answer: Please contact the Licensing office 303-762-2422 or email: laelliott@englewoodco.gov. A Food Vendors license is required, as well as a Sales Tax License. You can start the application process at:  MUNIRevs-Englewood
  • Can I sell homemade jellies and baked goods at the local craft fair?
    • Answer:  You will need to contact the Tri County Health Department at 720-200-1563.  They have stipulations/regulations you must follow.  You will need to provide the City with a Tri County Health Certificate with your Special Event application.   • I want to buy gold and other valuable articles.  Is a Sales Tax license all I need?
    • Answer:  1) To purchase valuable articles within the City, you must first obtain a Purchaser of Valuable Articles License. The registration process can be started at: MUNIRevs-Englewood
    • Answer:  2) If you will be selling tangible items, you will also need a Sales Tax License. The registration process can be started at: MUNIRevs-Englewood

Massage Questions

  • I am a Massage Therapist; does the city require me to have a Massage Therapy License?
    • Answer:  Effective January 1, 2020 all business engaged in business with the City of Englewood will be required to obtain a Sales and Use Tax License. The registration process can be started at: MUNIRevs-Englewood. However no, separate business license is required as the State regulates Massage Therapists.
  • I am a Reflexologist; does the City require me to have a License?
    • Answer:  Effective January 1, 2020 all business engaged in business with the City of Englewood will be required to obtain a Sales and Use Tax License. The registration process can be started at: MUNIRevs-Englewood. In addition, the City of Englewood requires a separate Reflexology business license.   • I need to contact a Trash Hauler; do you have a list of licensed Trash Haulers for the City? 
    • Answer:  The City has a list of Licensed Trash Haulers; you may contact the Licensing Office 303-762-2422 or access the list here.
  • I would like to offer Arborist services in your City, do I need a License?
  • Why do I have to collect Sales Tax on items I am selling at the local craft fair?
    • Answer:  You are selling tangible items to the public. Sales of tangible items in the City of Englewood are subject to the 8.05% tax rate of which the City’s rate is 3.8%. For more details; please refer to the Sales Tax Guide.
  • Can I hold a garage sale every weekend at my house?
    • Answer:  No person may conduct more than two (2) garage sales in any calendar year at the same location.  Each garage sale shall last no more than three (3) consecutive days. (Englewood Municipal Code: 15-16-2).  EMC Title 5 Chapter 16 Garage Sales
