Pesticides are used as a last resort after exhausting all other options.  When pesticides are used, the least toxic pesticide is chosen from a list of products that have been reviewed and evaluated and an application method is used to decrease non-target exposure and off-site movement.  Other weed management methods, such as mowing, burning, cutting seed heads and replanting native vegetation are also used in combination with herbicide treatments.

The City will no longer be treating for dandelions in the parks in order to limit the use of pesticides.
