The dedication of a memorial tree is not only an excellent way to give tribute to a loved one or a meaningful event, but also brings life and beauty to the community for years to come.  

Application Process

To begin the Memorial Tree process, please complete and submit an application.  A parks staff representative will then contact you to discuss the feasibility of your location, desire tree species and your involvement.  Payment will be due when a location and tree species is agreed upon.  Park staff will move forward with the purchase of the tree and scheduling a date and time for the dedication when payment is received.

Tree Selection

The City of Englewood will work with the donor on the selection of a tree.  Donors may identify a preferred tree species but Park staff will exercise final determination as to whether the tree identified is appropriate for the chosen site, etc.  Once a tree has been selected and purchased, it will be planted on the day and time specified by those involved.  Park staff will purchase the tree from a reputable nursery at the donor's expense.  Planting of the commemorative tree will be scheduled between April and October.  

Location

A number of locations are available for memorial tree plantings in parks, open space for at the Broken Tee Golf Course.  Please indicate your choice on the application. 

Dedication

The tree will be planted on the day and time specified by those involved.

Memorial Tree Guidelines

• Cost of tree includes:  tree, planting and plaque.
• The cost of the tree will be dependent upon the size of tree and species. 
• The City of Englewood Parks, Recreation and Library Department administers the Memorial Tree program for all the trees that are placed in Englewood parks, open space or at the Broken Tee Golf Course.  
• Trees are approximately 2" in caliper and will be approximately 6-8' in height depending on species.
• Donations are acknowledged on a tree plaque displayed at the Englewood Civic Center, 1000 Englewood Pkwy, 2nd floor.  If your tree is located at the Broken Tee Golf Course, an additional plaque will be located in the golf course clubhouse.  No plaques are allowed on or near the memorial tree for maintenance and vandalism reasons.

• The City of Englewood Parks Division will maintain the tree; however, there is no warranty with any tree and dead trees will not be replaced at the City of Englewood's expense
• The City of Englewood reserves the right to remove a memorial tree in the event of design modifications made to City property.
