The Detective Bureau is staffed by two detective sergeants, six general detectives, four senior detectives and one task force investigator.
The Detective Bureau is responsible for the prevention, detection, and investigation of crime, and its work often complements the work of police officers assigned to the Patrol Division.
Detectives specialize in property crimes, crimes against persons, sexual assault, vice narcotics, and crime scene evidence collection. These investigations consist of interviewing suspects, victims, and witnesses; analyzing information for validity, reliability, and accuracy; and compiling a comprehensive and factual case file to be presented in court.
The Detective Bureau works collaboratively with multiple entities to address a multitude of crimes and crime trends which results in an improved quality of life for residents of the City of Englewood.
