Speed Watch and Speed Trailer Programs

Englewood has several programs aimed at reducing speeds and increasing safety through community involvement. 

Speed Watch

A community involvement program to encourage safe driving on neighborhood streets. Motorists’ speeding through residential areas is often identified as being a primary concern throughout the city. Speed Watch allows concerned citizens to take an active role in helping to solve this problem.

How the Speed Watch program works: Residents who are interested in helping with Speed Watch undergo training, collect speed data and provide reports to the Englewood Police Department. We will then follow-up with a letter to the registered owners of the speeding vehicles to inform them that they were observed speeding, and to let them know that their neighbors are concerned about traffic safety.

Please note, registered owners of speeding vehicles are not fined, and no violation is cited on their driving record.

Speed Trailer

The Englewood Police Department has two speed trailers which can be deployed throughout the city to help educate drivers about their speed.
